Load up the Bus! AIR (”Apollo”) is going on the Road

June 10th, 2007 by Mike Chambers

A couple of months ago, we held Apollo Camp in San Francisco. This was a one night developer event for web developers interested in learning more about the Adobe Integrated Runtime (AIR) (which, at the time, was known by its code-named of “Apollo”). The event was a huge success, and even before it was over, we began to get requests to do additional Apollo Camps across the country and world.

Well, that is exactly what we are doing. The on AIR Bus Tour is a 18 City tour over the next couple of months across North America. We are packing the bus full of Flash, Flex and JavaScript developers and going across the continent to hold free developer conferences for anyone interested in learning more about the Adobe Integrated Runtime (AIR).

The tour is about a lot more than just the conferences though. The entire tour will be tracked online at onair.adobe.com. There you can find the latest news, information, event schedules and APIs and data feeds. Once the tour starts, we are planning on hosting live 24 / 7 video feeds from the bus, as well real time data and location feeds and updates from the tour.

We will be posting more details about the tour over the next couple of days and weeks. In the meantime, check the schedule to see when the bus will be in your city, and then head over and register for the tour.

Visit the on AIR Bus Tour site.

well I never thought I’d see *this* day. Brings back memories.

A bunch of geeks taking a leaf out of rock’n'roll heartland. Going on a road tour. Who’s driving the bus - Meatloaf?

Perhaps as the tour progresses, there’ll be three busses with “Downey”, “Chambers” and “Patrick” painted on the roof. Hmmm… doesn’t have the same ring to it as “ELP”

don’t tell me, let me guess… you’ve got “how ya’ rockin’ Toledo” taped to the underside of your laptop?

and to “keep it real” you’ll be playing the “guitar hero” game?

Who’s idea was it to hold the Seattle AIR camp in a brewery? Wait, don’t answer that. It’s in Seattle. Adobe just hired Ryan Stewart. ‘Nuf said. :-)

Why don’t you guys ever come the Raleigh/Durham area? Ever hear of the Research Triangle Park, ya know, where we have Cisco, Red Hat, IBM, Lenovo…ever hear of those companies? Adobe always, always, always, goes to Atlanta or D.C., but always skips over North Carolina. You’re missing out on a great opportunity.

Lets see how the first leg of the US tour goes, and then we can start to think of where we go after North America.

But yes, this is something that is definitely on our radar.
