Best Music to Code by?

Tuesday, July 3rd, 2007 by Mike Chambers

OK, now that everyone has helped me stock the Bus’s DVD library, its time to get some music for the bus. So, what do you think is the best music to code by? Im not asking for your favorite music, but rather what do you put in the player, when you have 12 hours of non-stop coding in front of you?

While my coding music tastes change over time (lots of Interpol, The Killers, Bloc Party, and The Roots lately), there are some things that are consistently there for me when I have to pull an all-nighter. This includes lots of downbeat stuff like Kruder and Dorfmeister, as well as Thievery Corporation (although that has gotten a little over-played), old R.E.M., Stereolab, and if im in the mood for something new, then Ill tune in San Francisco’s own SomaFM. My all time top coding album though is probably Radiohead’s OK Computer.

So, what do you think is the best coding music? Does it depend on what you are coding? or coding with? What are the essentials that I need to make sure are on the bus? Post in the comments (or on your blog, and ping back to here).

Registration Problems on Friday

Monday, July 2nd, 2007 by Mike Chambers

The vendor that we are using to handle the registration had some technical issues on Friday, and thus, if you tried to register you may not have been able to access the page. Everything is working now, and if you were not able to register, you can register now.

Sorry about the hassle.

T-Minus One Week until the bus rolls out of San Francisco

Monday, July 2nd, 2007 by Mike Chambers

Wow. Only one week left until the bus leaves San Francisco for Seattle, and starts off the first leg of the tour. For the most part, the sessions for the first leg are set, although we will probably make a few tweaks. Registration has been going really well, with Los Angeles and Atlanta leading the way.

We still have a lot of work to do this week, and will be posting about all of it. In particular, we are doing a test drive of the bus tomorrow, to test the live video feed, and the AIR GPS apps (watch the tour’s twitter feed if you want to check the tests out while we do them). We will also be installing all of the hardware (xboxes, servers, data connections) onto the bus on Friday.

Ill be posting some new videos this week. We will do one tomorrow showing how the live video streaming from the bus is setup, as well as how the AIR gps apps work. Finally, I am going to interview frog design around the process around creating the design of the bus. I will post those videos through the week.

If you havent registered yet, make sure to register. Some of the events are getting close to selling out, so make sure to register so you dont miss it.
