Dublin Event Postponed

March 9th, 2008 by Mike Chambers

Due to some logistics issues, we are having to postpone the on AIR Tour event for Dublin. We don’t have a new date for the event, but will be working closely with the local user group in Dublin. The website schedule has been updated, and we are no longer taking registrations for Dublin

This is really unfortunate, as registration for the first leg has been very high (much higher than we expected at this point), and we are getting close to selling out London and Paris (with Amsterdam and Madrid not that far behind). Ill make another post shortly with an update on registration.

this is disappointing. I went to FITC Amsterdam and didn’t attend any Air sessions because I thought it would be covered by OnAir Dublin :) I’ll look forward to any user group event to offset this.

    This is not great news.
Though if “postpone” means postpone then I hope I can make it to the new slot when its fixed.
Mike, a conspiracy theorist might read between the lines of your announcement that this may have something to do with lack of interest.
From a personal point of view while the Air Apps I’ve built resemble tooth picks cut with a diamond I’ve lots of questions and a few observed quirks I’d be grateful to sound you guys out on.
Is there a formal user group?

Yeah. We were concerned about this perception, but as I noted in the post, registration has been very high for the first leg (much higher than we had expected by this point).

Again, sorry about the hassle, we are working on the best way to reschedule.

As all here, my colleagues and I were looking forward to this event. It would be great to hear of concrete plans as to when the event will go ahead. Please don’t let this one fade away Mike :-)

    Hi,

There would appear to have been very short notice and preparation of the planning detail for the whole European onAir tour. Its only relatively recently been advertised even on the web.

There could have been newspaper/tv/web/usergroup/education(colleges/university) Adobe customer/client sponsorship etc prep.

We were hoping our usergroup http://www.mmug-dublin.com would benefit membership wise and reach out to the growing Actionscript 3, Flex 3, onAir developer and user base.

If adequate time and prep were given to contact all the known users of Flash/CF/Flexbuilder/Actionscript and the Adobe client/software list plus other usergroups, eg python users, java developers, IT university and college depts, it would have been a great success all round.

Anyways here’s hoping the event will be rescheduled and some heavy promo work done in Dublin to advertise it in advance.

    Colm

Now this does take the biscuit!

I booked the first flight from Heathrow in the morning and the last one back, just to see the OnAIr in Dublin, rather then stinking London ;)

Well guys if you still want to hook up and do something I’m up for that, as I’m on the wagon at the moment, so a day in Dublin with no black stuff is going to kill me, but then again if London Irish get through tot he semis of the Heineken cup on the 5th, I may just full off it ;)

So Colm? Fancy hooking up for lunch? Well have a Scotch on the Rocks Lunch event in Dublin instead and all geek out ;)
