The 12 Hour Marathon

Wednesday, July 18th, 2007 by Ryan Stewart

Huge thanks to everyone who attended the Los Angeles event. It was the largest so far by attendance and it lasted over 12 hours with a lot of people still sticking around until the very end while the mini presentations were going on. This venue was probably my least favorite out of all of them, but we did have an entire auditorium to ourselves, so I think for the people watching it must have been more comfortable.

The food in Los Angeles was also really good. They had a ton of stuff for us to eat throughout the whole day. It consisted of things like poppers, pretzels, a nacho cheese machine that you could use to create nachos, grilled items for lunch and a spread of fruit, cookies and other thing from throughout the day. It wasn’t all good for us, but it tasted great. This is why we’re doing a weight loss competition on the next leg. Thanks to all that attended. Below are some blog-thoughts on the event.

Thanks to mediatemple

One of our partners on the tour is mediatemple. They are providing the hosting for the website, weblogs, APIs and feeds, and have been a huge help in watching and maintaining the server.

However, not only are they helping us out on the site, but they also surprised us with some parting gifts on the bus, including these swank slippers being modeled by the bus’s own Andre Charland.

Bus is Moving / Website Updated

Monday, July 9th, 2007 by Mike Chambers

The bus is finally on its way, on the first leg of the on AIR Bus Tour. We left this morning around 6:30 AM and are about 2 hours north of San Francisco right now. Scoble is broadcasting on the live video feed, Ryan is playing guitar hero, and everyone else is working on code.

We pushed a new version of the website today, including a new homepage, that maps the images and twitters from the tour, a live video feed from the bus, and a ton of new APIs for the bus, including location data, and a geo-encoded twitter feed.

Bus Tour Live Video is up

Monday, July 9th, 2007 by Mike Chambers

We just left San Francisco on our way to Seattle for the first AIR Camp (tomorrow). Ill make another post about some of the updates to the website, but in the meantime, I wanted to make a quick post and let everyone know that the live video feed from the bus is online now.

View Live Video Feed from Bus

It will be up any time we are on the bus, although it may go down from time to time if we loose the data connection. If the connection does go down, then you can view a slide show of images automatically taken from the bus. We will have audio on at time, but not all of the time.

Leave any comments about the video here.

We are on the bus right now doing tests for all of the apps. This includes the geo tracking app, Flickr app, and live video stream.

You can watch the test, and help us find bugs / problems. Here are the links.

Any suggestions on movies for the Bus?

Wednesday, June 27th, 2007 by Mike Chambers

It just hit me that some of the bus trips between cities are pretty long (20 hours from Portland to Vegas, 20+ hours from LA to Dallas), so I figured we should make sure that the bus is well stocked with some movies to wile away the hours.

Of course, I have picked up some of the standards like Spinal Tap, Monty Python’s Holy Grail, and Hackers (a very accurate portrayal of computer hacking… not!). Anyone else have any suggestions? What are the best geek / coding movies? What do we need to make sure is on the bus?

Post your suggestions in the comments…

Photos of Tour Bus Being wrapped

Tuesday, June 26th, 2007 by Mike Chambers

The bus was finally wrapped this week. I was really curious to see what wrapping a bus involves, so we had a photographer head out to Florence, Alabama (where it was being wrapped) to get some images of the entire process. I just received them today, and have uploaded them to Flickr.

The bus is actually in California right now, and we will have access to it on Thursday. Ill try to get some more pictures and a video or two online.
